Ofakim
The Tennis Center opened in 1990 and features 6 illuminated courts, a covered practice wall and study room. The Tennis Center offers a variety of tennis programs for children, beginning and advanced players ages 18 and up, subscribers/members and for developmentally challenged children and adults.
History
The city of Ofakim was founded in 1955 by Jewish immigrants from North Africa, Iran, India and Romania. Located in Southern Israel and a mere 15 minute drive from Beer Sheva, Ofakim is one of Israel's most impoverished cities. The city's unfortunate socio-economic situation is the main reason the Israel Tennis Center decided to open their 11th Tennis Center in Ofakim. As an organization committed to empowering children through the medium of sport, our top priorities are to reach out to Ofakim's youth and introduce them to programs for all ages including the Kindergarten Program, Mini Tennis and the Advanced Program. When visiting Ofakim, recommended sites includes the early Ottoman castle of Fatish and Ofakim Park, which is filled with beautiful flora and fauna and includes a cave that served as an ancient water gathering spot.Contact Information
