Beer Sheva – Samson Israel Tennis Center
The Samson Israel Tennis Center – Beer Sheva was inaugurated in 1991 and operates as a state-of-the-art Tennis Center, complete with tennis programs for all ages and levels. Today, the Israel Tennis Center–Beer Sheva has 8 tennis courts and caters to hundreds of children each week. The Israel Tennis Center–Beer Sheva also hosts many tennis tournaments on a local, national, and international scale. A notable example is the annual Alex Podolsky International Tennis Tournament, in which 100 children competitors from around the world display top level tennis.
History
In the early 1950's, David Ben Gurion declared that the population and development of the Negev is imperative to the future of the entire nation of Israel. Many years later, Beer Sheva has become the Negev's largest and most influential metropolis and the fifth largest city in Israel. Located in the Northern Negev, Beer Sheva is one of Israel's fastest growing cities, with its new residents and neighborhoods nearly multiplying the city's size and population within the last 15 years. Beer Sheva's captivating history dates back to biblical times and the Byzantine era. The city is home to many prestigious institutions, such as The Ben Gurion University of the Negev, The Beer-Sheva Theatre, The Bat-Dor Beer Sheva Municipal Dance Center and The Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva. Yaniv Sakira

Yaniv Sakira was born and raised in Beer Sheva. Currently 29 years old, Yaniv started playing tennis when he was 7, even before the ITC – Beer Sheva was established. After the Center's inception in 1999, Yaniv joined the Competitive Program with legendary coach Alex Podolsky and played both national and international tournaments. Yaniv became a certified coach at the age of just 17 and a year later he enlisted in the Army. After a tough choice, Yaniv decided to give up on his tennis career in order to be able to serve in an elite unit; his service lasted 6 years. When he left the Army, Yaniv started to study at university but left during his final year when he was asked to become the manager of the ITC – Beer Sheva – it was a dream come true and Yaniv hasn’t looked back since.
