Ashkelon – Marjorie Sherman Israel Tennis Center

The Marjorie Sherman Israel Tennis Center - Ashkelon opened in 1981 and features 17 illuminated courts, a stadium that seats 1,000 spectators, a practice wall, fitness room and snack bar.

History
Located near the Mediterranean coast in Southern Israel, Ashkelon is one of Israel's fastest growing cities. While Ashkelon's history dates back to biblical times, many families throughout Israel are making the city their home and filling the streets with a young and energetic atmosphere. Ashkelon is a highly recommended window into the lives and culture of Southern Israel residents, as well as a gateway into ages past: visitors are urged to walk past Roman ruins in the National Park and take a glimpse of ancient sarcauphagus' at Ashkelon's Apridor Center. The Tennis Center offers court rentals and a variety of tennis programs for children beginning and advanced players ages 18 and up, subscribers/members and for children with special needs including the developmentally challenged and children at risk.
In recent years, the Tennis Center in Ashkelon has become a home for tennis tournaments for the handicapped. In cooperation with the local municipality, the Tennis Center hosts numerous international ITF wheelchair tennis tournaments every year. Special Olympics Tournaments for developmentally challenged children are also a common sight at the Ashkelon Tennis Center. We invite you to visit the Israel Tennis Center in Ashkelon.
