The Harry and Evelyn Burg Israel Tennis Center - Arad opened in 1979 and features 7 illuminated courts, a practice wall, a fitness room, snack bar and a large study room.
History
The city of Arad was built in the 1960's on the outskirts of the Judeah Desert. Known throughout Israel for its clean air and hypnotic desert landscape, thousands of visitors pass through Arad every year on their way to campsites in the desert or a dip in the Dead Sea. The ancient biblical city of Tel-Arad, which is home to an impressive archeological site, also attracts many visitors who come to learn about the Iron and Byzantine ages through the city's archways and structures. The Tennis Center offers a variety of tennis programs for children, beginning and advanced players ages 18 and up and subscribers/members. The Tennis Center also caters to groups of children-at-risk, who arrive at the Center in the afternoons and receive a warm meal and help with homework. Manager

Al has a BA degree from the Pennsylvania State University in Community Recreation and he was the initial Director/Manager who opened the ITC-Arad on May 1st, 1979. In the ten years that Al was away from the program, he worked creating a baseball/softball program for elementary/junior high school children, worked with the Arad Sports Council, Karev Foundation's extra-curricular school programs, as well as continuing to coach a few groups at the tennis center.
