August Player of the Month: Tal Boigel
Posted September 28th, 2011
Tal Boigel, 9 years old, from the ITC – Beer Sheva was chosen as the ITC player of the month of August.
Tal is part of the “Players of the next Generation” program. It is a project which is targeted at the Ethiopian community, which is able to take place thanks to the contribution of a very special person called Jonathan David. He decided to invest in these children, believing that in 10 years one of them will represent Israel in the Davis Cup. There are 14 children, in third and fourth grade, who practice on this program and it takes place three times a week.
Tal Boigel. He has made great progress
Tal is coached by Katia Malka and in September he started practicing four times a week, as he proved that he has made great improvements and that he can become a part of the pre-Competitive Program at the ITC – Beer Sheva.
Tal started playing tennis about a year ago, when the project started, as he had not been previously connected to tennis. Tal did not feel like he belonged anywhere, which could be seen in his investment during practice and he even said that he only joined the project because his parents wanted him to participate in after school activities and not because he wanted to. However, during the year, there has been a big turnaround and Tal discovered that he has a lot of willpower and great potential to be a good player. He discovered the world of tennis, participated in internal tournaments at the Center and won medals and trophies.

Tal’s favorite players in the world are Rafael Nadal from Spain and Roger Federer from Switzerland and in Israel he likes Shahar Peer and Dudi Sela. Tal loves football, but at the moment tennis is his main priority. When he is not on the court, he enjoys playing on the computer and having fun with friends.
Tal: “My dream is to become a great player and to be known in Israel and around the world. I always look to achieve more, I want to win many trophies and tournaments and of course I want to be number one”.

Coach Katia Malka: “Tal is a very special child, he has a great belief that he will become a player and I believe he will be very successful. He was chosen as the player of the month because he has improved and developed so much, both professionally and socially and I know that he is a good role model for his friends in the group”.
