High Performance Tennis

Like other countries, Israel takes special pride in its ambassadors in fields such as music, film, art, architecture and sport, which learned their respective crafts as children and young adults and have since found national and international success. Yet when it comes to sport, success has always been a national mission; from Olympic medals, basketball trophies in Europe and top ranked tennis players, Israel's athletes are constantly making Israelis, as well as Jewish communities abroad, proud of their heritage. Throughout the years, tennis champions such as Shlomo Glickstein (ranked 22nd in 1982), Amos Mansdorf (ranked 18th in 1987), Harel Levy (ranked 30th in 2001), Anna Smashnova (ranked 15th in 2003), Shahar Peer (ranked 11th in 2011), Dudi Sela (ranked 29th in 2009) have enjoyed much success on the ATP and WTA circuits and have propelled Israeli sport to new heights. For many children, Israel's champion tennis players serve as role models, who prove that dreams can be fulfilled and anything can be accomplished. There is a need to continue the tradition of excellence in Israeli tennis by nurturing a new generation of champions who will regularly compete in top ATP and WTA tournaments, as well as successfully represent Israel in Davis and Feed Cup tournaments, as their elders did before them. In addition, there is a need to offer children who look up to Israel's tennis champions, opportunities to develop their own talents as world class players.
